State Calendar

February 14, 2015: Annual Winter Meeting, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Nottingham Ballroom, Nottingham Volunteer Fire Company, 200 Mercer Street, Hamilton. Maine State Apiarist Tony Jadczak will speak on “Important Issues Facing the Beekeeping Industry”, Northwest’s Kevin Inglin will give a presentation on how to access all the beekeeping videos he has posted to YouTube, the Annual Honey Show first place winning entries will be auctioned off and Kirsten Shoshanna Traynor, PhD, of the Bee Informed Partnership, will speak on “Trends in Management”. June 6, 2015: Saturday, Annual Spring Meeting, hosted by the Northwest branch. Reserve the date.  Dr. David Tarpy will be the featured speaker.  Details to follow.

October 31, 2015 : Annual fall meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Fellowship Deaconry, 3575 Valley Rd., Liberty Corner.
Michael Gardner of Gardner Apiaries, one of the largest package providers in Georgia, will speak on all aspects of package bee production.
State Apiarist Tim Schuler will provide a report on the state of beekeeping in NJ, all the things to consider when you are purchasing new bees and update us on his latest trip with Villages in Partnership to help beekeepers in Malawi Africa.
Essex branch member Grant Stiles will fill us in on all the aspects of producing nucleus hives.

  • August 22, 2015: Annual picnic and auction of bee-related paraphernalia at the Ewing Senior Community Center, 999 Lower Ferry Road, Ewing 08268 (Mercer County). If you have beekeeping related items to auction, please complete the Seller Registration form. Registration is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. with coffee and donuts, followed by the auction, with auctioneer par excellence Rod Donovan. RSVP today so that your name tag with your assigned bidding number is ready when you arrive. Bring a chair. Ample parking. Price is $20 (adults and children over 12); if you pay before August 12th; $25 the day of. Children ages 6 to 11 are $5 and 5 years or younger are free. July 14-19, 2015:  Burlington County Farm Fair. We will be staffing a booth and selling honey. Volunteers needed.

August 1-2, 2015:  Mercer County Fair. We will be staffing a booth.

September 15, 2015:  9:00 to 11:00 a.m. “Fall Feeding and Robbing Prevention”. Home of John & Chris Hibbs, 4 Ridge Court, Medford.

Jersey Cape Calendar  

 

Meetings are held every third Thursday of the month (except for July and December) at 7 P.M. at the Cape May County Extension Office, 355 Court House/So. Dennis Rd., (Route 657), Cape May Court House. Click here for directions.

February 6, 2015Bee-ginners Beekeeping Course - Offered by the Jersey Cape Beekeepers Association and the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County in Cape May Court House, NJ, it will be held on six Friday evenings in two-hour sessions from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. starting on February 6, 2015. The final session is held on a Saturday in April when the bees arrive. Applications will be posted when available. Contact Bill Eisele for more information.

Raritan Valley Beekeepers Association Calendar  

Raritan Valley Beekeepers Association (RVBA) meets the third Thursday of every month 7:00 to 9:00 P.M.For June, August, September, October, November and December, the meetings will be held at the Calvary Bible Church, 144 Readington Road, Whitehouse Station, Conference Room, Lower Level. The July location is still undecided.

 


October 15, 2015: 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Landi Simone, Master Beekeeper, will present a program about honey related products, label making, creamed honey, varietal honeys, beeswax and honey cosmetics basics, value added products of the hive and preparing honey to show. You will have the opportunity to meet fellow beekeepers and find out who lives in your neighborhood. Snacks and coffee courtesy of Zeev Abigador.
