Northwest Beekeepers at Work

Members of New Jersey's Northwest Beekeepers Association inspect the screened, wooden box that a "package" of honeybees is sold in. The package can be shipped through the mail, and usually contains three pounds of bees and a queen in a protective cage, which is attached to the side of a tin can full of sugar syrup. The can has pinholes in the bottom so that they bees have food while they are in the package. The package was used for educational purposes. The four new hives here were started from nucleus hives.
