Annual spring meeting beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Fellowship Deaconry, 3575 Valley Rd., Liberty Corner. State Apiarist Tim Schuler will fill us in on how he helped beekeepers in Malawai Africa, when he travelled there with NorthStar Vets in early March. Meredith Melendez with the Rutgers Extension will explain the FDA Registration of Food Processing Facilities & Guidelines for Food Safety and Honey Production. Commercial beekeeper, former state apiarist and Essex branch member Grant Stiles will talk about his new queen rearing operation. Michele Colopy of the National Pollinator Defense Fund (NPDF) will make a presentation on NPDF's work and wants to talk to as many New Jersey beekeepers as she can. There will be a general Q&A session, so bring all your beekeeping questions. There will be hands-on workshops. Click here for directions. Cost is $25 for members; $13 for children 16 and under. Annual picnic and auction of bee-related paraphernalia at the Ewing Senior Community Center, 999 Lower Ferry Road, Ewing 08268 (Mercer County). If you have beekeeping related items to auction, please complete the Seller Registration form. Registration is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. with coffee and donuts, followed by the auction. RSVP today so that your name tag with your assigned bidding number is ready when you arrive. Bring a chair. Ample parking. Price is $20 (adults and children over 12); if you pay before August 10th; $25 the day of. Children ages 6 to 11 are $5 and 4 years or younger are free.
