First Place Class 1 Light Extracted Honey
On her Homewinds farm in Gladstone, Betsy Michel has cows, pigs, chickens and, of course, honey bees. Although she has had bees for many years, this was the first year her honey was entered in the show. With property sporting many linden trees lining the drive, her honey bees were able to produce this fine, light, first-place honey.
Extracted honey is judged in one of four clases, i.e., light, light amber, amber and dark. The placement in a given class is determined by the judge. Three glass, queenline or gamber jars, must be submitted as a single entry. Each New Jersey Beekeepers Assoociation member may make one entry in each of the four classes.
